Walter A. Obrish

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Walter A. Obrish, of Atco, NJ, a beloved husband, father, and friend, who left us on July 3, 2026, at the age of 63.

Walter proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He worked as a communications technician with Local 98 of IBEW and was known as the handyman who could fix anything, earning the admiration of friends and family alike.

An avid fisherman, Walter cherished his trips to Florida, especially with his Marine friends, where laughter and stories were shared on the water. He looked forward to annual winter camping trips in the Poconos, relishing the camaraderie and experience of nature with those who served alongside him. His passions extended to being a devoted Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan, and he found pure joy in the companionship of his dogs.

Music and movies were another source of delight for Walter. He had a soft spot for country music, Elvis Presley and old Western films, often sharing these classics with those he loved. Perhaps the most cherished moments of his life came from the weekly Friday diner and movie dates with his beloved wife, Maddy, after his treatments. Together, they explored and rated new diners, making every outing a new adventure.

Walter is survived by his wife, Maddy Lopez, his son, Christopher Obrish, and step-son, Eric Lopez who will carry his legacy of love and resilience forward. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Carmela Obrish (nee DeSantis) as well as his 4 brothers and sisters.

Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Sunday, July 12th, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm at LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ, 08004 with a Eulogy and Military Honors at 2:30 pm.
