Vera Marie Rushton

Vera Marie Rushton, age 93, of Stratford, NJ, passed three days shy of her 94th birthday on November 27, 2025. She was born in Quincy, IN, to the late Edward E. and Edna G. (nee Daniels) Huber.

Vera earned her master's degree in education from Indiana State University and dedicated over 40 years to teaching all while moving several times across the country as a navy wife . Most of her career was spent at Lindenwold School 5, where she devoted 35 years to shaping young minds with patience and kindness.

Vera was an avid reader who also enjoyed crossword puzzles, antiquing, collecting antique glass, and traveling. She would provide dramatic readings that she would write for local fashion shows. At one point, she had a radio program as well as a tv show where she read books to children while living in Adak, Alaska. After retirement, she spent the rest of her life traveling all over the world with Ray. Their favorite place was Hawaii. She also enjoyed card games and exploring new cities with her dear friends and family. Her curiosity, warmth, and love for life will long be remembered by those who knew her.

Vera is predeceased by her beloved husband of 70 years, Ernest "Ray" Rushton; her brother, John Huber; and her parents, Edward and Edna Huber.

She is survived by her son, Gary Rushton (Brenda); her grandchildren, Rebekah Storti (Steve) and Angela Crump (Josh); her great-grandchildren, Nicholas (Carolyn), Roman, Karina, and Eloise; and her siblings, Jerry Huber, Margaret Rady (Pat), and sister-in-law Joan.
