It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Raymond Costello, of Cornwall, NY on August 28, 2024.
Tom was born on October 22, 1947, in Queens NY. He loved being a New Yorker as evidenced in his loyalty to the NY Rangers and the NY Mets, a passion he shared with his family, often attending games with his children and grandchildren. He was also an avid golfer who enjoyed playing with his friends and his family. He inherited his father's sense of Irish playfulness and humor. Often the hilarious highlight of every family gathering, Tom also possessed a deep sense of respect and love for everyone around him. As the oldest child, he was always looking out for his brothers and sisters with a desire to care for everyone.
Tom was proud to have retired from the New York City Police Department in 1977, which allowed him to spend more time with his family. Committed to his sobriety, Tom was an active member of his AA family, devoted 38 years not only to his recovery, but the recovery of others. He is also remembered for his incredibly terrible sense of following travel directions, frequently losing his way and missing clearly marked exits.
He is survived by his son, Thomas and his wife Judith; daughter, Renee Ross; brother, Michael; and sisters, Lynn Costello and Jean Johnson; grandchildren, Zachery Costello, Patrick Doheny, Dean Costello, Cole Costello, Trevor Ross, Mackenzie Ross and Jacob Costello; great grandchildren TJ Ross and Tricia Ross, as well as 3 nieces and 1 nephew. A celebration of his life will take place on September 12th, 2024, at La Casa Vicina, 1015 Little Britain Road New Windsor NY from 4pm - 8pm.
