It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Theresa Todoro on April 25, 2026, at the age of 93.
Theresa was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1932, the second youngest of eleven siblings in a large and close-knit Italian family. She was the first in her family to graduate from high school-a distinction that set the stage for a life of purpose and community service.
Theresa's career began at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, where she worked as a seamstress for the Department of Defense, skillfully crafting navy uniforms for those who served our country. It was at the USO dances held there that she met her future husband, John, and together they built a life filled with love and devotion.
After relocating to Camden, New Jersey, to start their family, Theresa became a devoted member of St. Joan of Arc Parish, where she served with dedication as a Religious Education Director, lector, and Eucharistic minister. She also contributed her talents to the community as a lunch aide at Yorkship School, touching the lives of countless children. She was also one of the founding members of the Fairview Historic Society.
Theresa had a gift for creating joy wherever she went. She treasured afternoon cocktails with her dear friend and neighbor Tee, spending time with family at Russo's Farm, and cheering on her favorite baseball teams, the Brooklyn Dodgers whom she claims were stolen by Los Angeles and the Philadelphia Phillies. She would reminisce of when tickets cost just a quarter. She was most in her element in the kitchen on Sunday, preparing the family recipes she loved sharing with younger generations. Her passion for travel took her on parish-organized trips to Rome and Israel with her sister Rose and her dear friend Fr. Richard Lodge and visits to family members in Michigan, California, and North Carolina.
In her final chapter, Theresa spent the last four years at All American Assisted Living, where she shared an apartment with her beloved sister, Rita Galanti. During that time, she and Rita became beloved fixtures in the community, entertaining residents and staff with their warmth, spirits and sisterly banter. She will be deeply missed by all who came to know and love her.
Theresa is reunited in heaven with her devoted husband, John Todoro, and her daughter, Reasy . She is survived by her children, Angela Shaffer (Frank), Frank Todoro (Linda), and Frances Todoro-Hargreaves (Mark); her cherished grandchildren Cara Shaffer (Shaun Strain), Frank Todoro(Nicole), John Todoro (Mae) and Frederica and Calidora Hargreaves; and her great-grandsons Antonio and Angelo Todoro, and Nunzio Todoro. She is also survived by many treasured nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory. She is fondly remembered by the family's adored companions-Piper, Dubel, Bennie, and Binx.
Family and friends are invited to attend Theresa's viewing on Tuesday, April 28th, 2026 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ, 08004. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, April 29th, 2026, at 11:00am St. Mary of Mount Carmel Parish, St. Joseph Church - 3rd & French Street, Hammonton, NJ 08037.
