Robert Michael Lavelle

Robert Michael Lavelle, age 66, of Clayton, NJ affectionately known as "Roger" to his family, passed away with family by his side on July 3, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 11, 1959, in Lakewood, Ohio, Roger worked as a skilled wood worker finishing furniture and lived a life filled with devotion to his family. He was extremely committed to keeping in touch with immediate and extended family members.

Roger was a man of great loyalty and love. A passionate supporter of all Cleveland sports teams, specifically the Browns. Robert's enthusiasm for Cleveland became a hallmark of his personality, often bringing joy and spirited debates especially during the football season. He was a lover of rock-n-roll music and had a profound affection for his dogs.

Roger was not known to many as a super religious person however, he would agree that his catholic faith carried him through many of life's challenges and struggles.

Roger is survived by his siblings, Joan (Joni) Arnold, Joseph (Joey) Lavelle, Dennis Lavelle, and James (Jay) Lavelle, loving niece, Lori Clark (Steven), niece, Riley Arnold, great niece, Haley (Clark), great nephew, Connor (Clark), close cousin, Patrick Lavelle, as well as many other beloved cousins and extended family members. He was a great friend to Jeff, Barb, and Karen, and always spoke of them with love.

He is predeceased by his parents, James "Frank" and Iona Lavelle, sisters, June Lavelle and Linda Christiansen, several aunts/uncles, and his great-niece, Jordan Clark (who he lovingly referred to as his rock-n-roll buddy).

Cremation services are under the care and direction of LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory in Atco, NJ. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in his home state of Ohio (Cleveland) per his wishes. Condolences may be shared on his online guestbook.
