Peter "Pete" Giovetsis, of Atco, NJ, age 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 4, 2026.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on February 28, 1939, Pete was the son of the late Pantelis and Katina Giovetsis. He was one of seven children, raised alongside his late siblings Despina, Gus, Tony, George, and Danny, and is survived by his brother, Pantelis. Pete proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Pete's legendary work ethic was rooted in his childhood. Growing up in Philadelphia during the 1940s and 1950s, he learned the values of family, hustle, and resourcefulness while working in his father's store-doing everything from polishing shoes and selling popcorn to cleaning and fixing hats alongside his parents and siblings.

Pete met his wife, Barbara (née Elnitsky). The two were married on June 1, 1962, beginning a devoted partnership of over six decades built on loyalty, hard work, and mutual care. Together they raised their five children: Pete, Kathy, Cheryl, Chris, and Mary Ann.

To support his growing family, Pete spent the vast majority of his career in the printing industry. Working the overnight shift for decades, he served as the night boss managing a full printing crew and overseeing operations through the late hours-affectionately remembered by some as the "Lord of the Nightshift." In his earlier years, he was relentless in providing for his loved ones, often working multiple jobs at once, including working as a gas station mechanic and taking on various skilled trades.

Pete lived by a simple code: do what is right and do it right the first time. He would do anything to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, never looking for recognition or anything more than a simple, sincere "thank you." His signature eye for detail naturally followed him into his personal life. Pete had a deep passion for planning and carrying out road trips all around the country-carefully plotting things to go see, places to eat, and creating detailed maps right down to the days and times for each stop along the way. True to his nature, Pete also spent countless hours on his computer meticulously organizing family photos, records, and detailed lists-an extension of his lifelong dedication to order, precision, and thoroughness.

Beneath his observant nature was an incredible sense of humor. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, listening to classic country music and popular radio hits from the 1950s through the early 1970s.

Above all else, Pete's passion was his family. Pete is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his children and their spouses: Pete and Sallie, Kathy and Madison, Cheryl and John, Chris and Erika, and Mary Ann and Steve; as well as his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose lives he enriched with his quiet strength and steadfast support, famously extending that love to everyone's dogs and pets.

Pete will be remembered by those who knew him for his quiet perfectionism, his humble integrity, and his deep devotion to his family. He was deeply loved, will be dearly missed, and leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, humor, and total devotion to his family.
