It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Philip Abramek, a beloved father and friend, on February 2, 2026, at the age of 83. Michael was born on October 21, 1942, in Philadelphia, PA, to Philip and Mary (nee Blakeley) Abramek and spent most of his life in Atco, NJ. His life was marked by hard work, love for family, and a passion for adventure.
Michael served as a gas processing operator at Philadelphia Gas Works, where he dedicated many years of his life before retiring at the age of 55. He was often likened to MacGyver for his ability to always find ways to make anything work. He had a deep-seated passion for automobiles, nurturing this love since his youth. Over the years, he owned a remarkable collection of cars, eventually embracing the evolution of technology with electric vehicles.
In his personal life, Michael found joy in bowling and sharing spirited poker nights with family and friends. He was also a passionate aviator, owning a small plane and a gyrocopter, enjoying the thrill of flight whenever he could. He had an impressive collection of movies, and particularly loved science fiction.
Michael is survived by his daughter, Jean Abramek, two sons, John Abramek and Michael P. Abramek, Jr.; his sibling, Phyllis Abramek, Robert Abramek and JoAnne Finucane; his grandchildren, Jessica Slutter, Mary Abramek, Dominic Caggese, Jacob Caggese, Samantha Crace, Julian Pinto and Miranda Crace, and great-grandson Reily.
He was predeceased by his parents; daughter, Tammy Pinto; and sister, Frances Propst.
