Melvin P. Arties, of Berlin, NJ passed peacefully into the loving arms of the Lord on June 5th, 2026. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 6, 1945, to the late Murdock and Mildred Arties. He was the second of 10 children; the late Celeste Arties, Sylvia Reyes, Ruth Arties-Ratliff (Charles Ratliff), the late Roberta Carter-Murrell, the late Michael Arties, the late Myra Arties, the late Patricia Arties, the late Kevin Arties and Eleanor Grant (Alfonso Grant).
Melvin was educated in the Philadelphia school district and entered the US Army in 1965, where he obtained GED. He served and received an Honorable Discharge in 1967. After being discharged he worked at Westington House and then he went on to work at Boeing as a machinist in the aerospace industry until he retired. He continued his education by going to community college in Philadelphia.
Melvin enjoyed playing racquetball, doing taxes and being on his computer while keeping up with the latest Microsoft programs. He also enjoyed hosting parties for friends and family. Melvin loved taking videos of his grandchildren and making slide shows.
Lovingly known as Pop-Pop and Uncle Bud. Melvin leaves to cherish his memory; his beloved wife, Rosalie, who he married on July 31, 1971; son, Christopher Arties; daughter, Nieatra Arties-Lomax; daughter in-law, Cathy Arties; eight grandchildren, Sharonda Arties, Correy Arties, Larry Barnes-Arties, Cristin Arties, Sierra Arties-Lomax, Aleja Lomax, Christopher Arties, Jr. and Shianne Lomax, seven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephew, sibling in-laws, cousins and family members.
Family and friends are invited to attend his memorial service with military honors on Saturday, June 13th, 2026, at LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ, 08004. Honoring the family's wishes there will not be a visitation/visting before the service, please arrive promptly before 11:00 am as military honors and the service will take place at 11:00 am sharp. Condolences may be shared on Melvin's online guestbook.
