Martin Patrick Kilburn, Jr.

Martin P. Kilburn Jr., age 34, of Sicklerville, NJ, passed away on September 20, 2016. Beloved son of Martin P. Kilburn Sr. (Donna) and Cheryl Spiris (Nick). Loving brother of Sarah Kilburn-Barnes, Candace (Matt) Gordon, and Carlie Rooney. Proud uncle of Emmett and Nick Rooney and Liam Gordon. Dear grandson of William Kilburn (Urshula). He is also survived and will be sadly missed by many aunts and uncles. Marty was a gentle, sensitive soul with a sick sense of humor. He represented the perfect combination of both dark and light, perhaps to a downfall. That’s the best way I can describe him. He’d give you the shirt off his back if you needed it, only after pointing and laughing at you first for being naked. He once took me to the circus so proud of himself because he knew I was terrified of little people and clowns. The whole time laughing at me while I cried out of fear, only to hug and kiss me ten minutes later (while my jaw dropped in awe as I watched cats stand on top of the back of cats, on the back dogs, while they walked the trapeze and did tricks), whispering, “see I told you I had your back”.... Marty had a love for sports, especially baseball, soccer and football. He loved the Eagles and would talk Eagles with whoever would listen for hours. He dreamed of being a sportscaster on talk radio. He was an all star soccer player. He started varsity soccer in highschool as a freshman and played local and traveling soccer with my dad as his coach his whole life growing up. He loved children, George Carlin, and the movie, "The Lost Boys". He also shared a love for nature and Native American culture. He was a people person and connected with everyone he came across, especially in his sobriety. He would go out of his way to help a fellow struggling addict and alcoholic. A visitation will be held on Sunday August 9, 2020 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at the Leroy P. Wooster Funeral Home and Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm.
