Lorraine Miraski

April 14, 1943 — June 23, 2025

On Monday, June 23rd, 2025, Heaven gained another angel. Lorraine Miraski (nee Novosel) passed away at the age of 82, surrounded by her beloved family. She leaves behind her adored husband of 64 years, Edward L. Miraski, Jr., her daughters, Michele McHorney and Lori Johns, sons-in-law, Mark McHorney and Mark Johns, granddaughters, Brittany McHorney (Joseph John) and Caitlin McHorney. She is preceded in death by her mother, Regina Stermel (nee Szymplinska), and step-father, Anthony "Satch" Stermel, father, Fredrick Novosel, as well as her brothers, Freddy and Jack Novosel. Lorraine also leaves behind her fur baby, Tiny, and many other extended family members.

Lorraine was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 14th, 1943. As a little girl she participated in ballet and often reflected on her time dancing as Odette in her ballet studio's performance of Swan Lake. After school, Lorraine would go to the corner store with her brothers and get fresh potato chips and candy. She attended St. Hubert Catholic high school for girls and little did she know one night bowling with her friends, she would meet the love of her life, Eddie. That night at the bowling alley, Eddie walked in with his buddies, saw Lorraine from afar, without even knowing her, he said "I am going to marry that girl". Ed and Lorraine fell so in love, that they ran away together to get married.

Later in life, Lorraine gave birth to her first daughter, Michele, and then to her second daughter, Lori. Raising her young family in Philly, they moved to Palmyra, NJ in a little home with a pool. This little home held various kitchen family food fights, and endless summer parties with family and friends. When you were at her home, Michele and Lori's friends were treated as family. Lorraine was an animal lover and always had fur babies in the house, from multiple poodles, a Bichon Frisé named Angel, a rescued cat, K.C., to a morkie, named Tiny.

Eventually, after a few more homes, Ed and Lorraine moved into an in-law suite getting to be even closer to her family, especially her granddaughters, Brittany and Caitlin. She adored them both, attending band and choir concerts, theater shows, and sports games. Lorraine was so proud of them both, often telling all the nurses during her stays at the hospital that her granddaughter Brittany is a funeral director or that her other granddaughter, Cait was in the Army and was getting her master's degree to be a special needs teacher. She loved trips down to Ocean City, NJ with the family, enjoying Manco & Manco Pizza, boardwalk fries, Laura's fudge, and polish water ice. One of her absolute favorite treats came from L & M Bakery in Delran, NJ, the powdered cream filled donuts! Trips to this bakery were special and she always made sure to get a few extra donuts to enjoy on the ride home. Nan was an avid Hallmark channel fan, and has probably seen every Christmas Hallmark movie ever made.

Unfortunately, these past two years, Lorraine struggled with many health issues, but there by her side was her devoted, attentive caretaker and husband, Eddie. The amount of love and patience he provided was unmatched. Lorraine and her family were lucky enough to have her home for a little bit before she passed and she got to enjoy some favorite snacks, the comfort of her home, presence of her family, and L & M donuts. She will be deeply missed by her family.

Cremation and funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of her granddaughter at LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory. Condolences may be shared on her online guestbook.
