Lawrence E. McFerren, age 102, of Atco, NJ, passed away at home on Saturday, July 12th, 2025. He leaves behind his beloved daughters, June Knickman (Steven), and Jane Shone (Carl), 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Lawrence is preceded in death by his wife, Irene McFerren (nee Schleinkofer), his parents, Grover and Ada McFerren and 8 siblings.
Lawrence was a life-long South Jersey resident, born in Gibbsboro, NJ on October 26, 1922, to the late Grover and Ada. He served in the United States Army during World War II and later in life worked as a chemist at Sherwin Williams in Gibbsboro. He shared 30 years with his late wife, Irene and raised a beautiful family together. Lawrence and Irene were married at Atco United Presbyterian Church in Atco and was a cherished member.
In his free time, he was a part of various clubs and organizations including Lion's Tamer Club, Atco's Senior Citizen Club, and a Civil War Reenactment group. Lawrence enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing and was an avid gardener. His other hobbies included golfing, bowling, even bowling on Nintendo's Wii and cheering on his favorite teams, the Phillies, the Eagles and Penn State's Football team. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed.
Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Friday, July 18th, 2025, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ, 08004. The funeral service begins at 11:00 am. Interment with military honors to follow at Atco cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lawrence's memory can be made to organizations close to his heart, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Samaritan Hospice or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
