June Silver

July 6, 1930 — December 28, 2025

June Lois Silver (nee Reich), 95, passed away peacefully at her home in Egg Harbor City, New Jersey on December 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. June was born in the Bronx, New York on July 6, 1930, to parents Jeanette and Albert Reich. She was the eldest of three sisters including Barbara Montesi, who passed in 2011, and Skip Himelstein of San Diego, California. She grew up in Hartford, Connecticut, and was a graduate of Weaver High School. In addition to her sister Barbara, June was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband of 60 years Stan Silver, her brother-in-law, David Himelstein and son-in-law, Michael Strong.

June lived in South Windsor, Connecticut most of her adult life, from 1958 to 2017. She was very active in South Windsor activities including the little league, library, Meals on Wheels, Grossi Dance Academy, yoga and bowling. She worked in the South Windsor school system and Bradley's Department Store for over 30 years. June and Stan were proud founding members of Temple Beth Hillel in South Windsor in 1961.

June and Stan raised three children in South Windsor, Alane Strong of Knoxville, Tennessee, Richard (Christine) of Stamford, Connecticut and Robert (Monica) of Mays Landing, New Jersey. In addition to her children, June is survived by six grandchildren, Melissa and Matt Strong, Jeffrey (Lori-Beth), Derek (Elia), Abby Silver and Justin Silver, two great grandchildren, Julian Silver and Weston Silver, as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

For the past eight years June resided at the Rittenberg Manor in Egg Harbor City, New Jersey where she was very active in local Galloway Township Senior Center activities and made many friends. She remained a fiercely loyal UConn Husky basketball and Boston Red Sox baseball fan and watched those teams play whenever she could. June had a great spirit and was completely independent until her passing. Throughout her blessed 95 years, she made many friends and she always wanted to help people. True to that spirit, June is making contributions to both the Temple Beth Hillel and the Galloway Township Senior Center in New Jersey.

A graveside service will be held in South Windsor, Conneticut.

June's requested final thoughts were "make the best of a situation and do the best of it when it arises."
