Julia Duffy

Julia (Julie) DePalma Duffy, aged 73, of Atco, NJ, passed away on August 26, 2025, after bravely battling a lengthy illness.

Julie will live on in the hearts and minds of many, as she was deeply cherished by her family and friends. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 50 years, Alan Duffy of Dublin, Ireland. Loving mother of children, Nora Hartley (Jack) of Atco, and Ryan Duffy (Hollis) of Brooklyn, NY. Proud grandmother of James, Nicola, Claire Hartley, and Miller Duffy.

Julie is predeceased by her son, Gavin Duffy; her parents, Rosella (née Midili) and Louis DePalma; and her siblings, Joseph, Louis II, and Angela DePalma.

Julie graduated from The College of Mount St. Vincent in the Bronx, NY, and began her four-decades-long teaching career with great ambition. She spent the majority of her profession dedicated to educating the children of the Waterford Township School District. She was devoted to her students and touched the lives and hearts of so many members of the community. Julie always said that teaching was like putting on a performance for a captive audience, and she truly shined on that stage.

Julie enjoyed traveling the world, taking cruises, and spending summers on the beach or lounging by her pool. She loved being a "snowbird" and spending winters with her family in San Antonio, Florida. Julie found great joy in the company of others and embraced any reason to celebrate. She was known for hosting gatherings, parties, and holidays; no one was a stranger at her table. Julie would appreciate being remembered by raising a toast in her honor, maybe a shaken cosmo with the ice on the side, or perhaps an Irish coffee.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend her viewing on Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ 08004. Memorial service will begin at 12:00 p.m. Cremation and interment will be private.
