Josephine M. Tanzi, lovingly known as "Jomae" who resided in Hammonton NJ, passed peacefully at home on October 5th, 2026. Josephine was born on May 21st, 1944, in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn New York to her late parents Carmine and Marie Boccia.
Josephine is survived by her daughter, Lisa Tanzi and her partner, Dennis Bradstreet, her daughter, Carla Balinsky and her husband, John Balinsky, her granddaughter, Jolina Balinsky, and brother, Joseph A Boccia. She is also survived by friend, Michele Perotti, whose weekly visits were deeply appreciated and treasured. Josephine now joins her husband, Frank, in eternal rest.
Together with her husband Frank, she joyfully ran "The Latest Scoop" ice cream parlor that became a welcoming spot for friends and neighbors, serving up sweet treats and creating happy memories.
Josephine enjoyed doing daily crosswords and watching her favorite game shows that included Family Feud and people puzzler. Her ideal evenings involved watching and trying to solve primetime fire and police cases and medical mysteries, all while eating way too many Tic-Tacs. Her loyalty to first responder dramas and intense mint addiction was a long-running joke among all of us.
Beyond Josephine's love of TV was the love of her dog, Eloise, who brought daily happiness and laughter.
Josephine was also a proud, loving Grandma who cherished every visit by her granddaughter, Jolina. Josephine's young-at-heart attitude sparked countless shared laughs between them, while her gentle compassion and understanding provided Jolina with constant guidance.
Josephine possessed a sharp mind and wonderful spirit. Through all of life's seasons, her quick wit and humor never wavered. Her ability to look past her limitations and still enjoy each day was a true testament to her strength, and her endearing, sweet, crooked smile could instantly warm the hearts of everyone around her.
Honoring Josephine's wishes, cremation will be held privately at LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory in Atco, NJ. Condolences may be shared on her online guest book.
