Joseph Arthur Querfeld

May 5, 1938 - April 18, 2026

Joseph Arthur Querfeld, of Stratford, NJ, lovingly known by many as "Don José," passed away on April 18, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on May 5, 1938, in New York, Joseph lived a life marked by faithful service, deep conviction, and enduring impact.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Betty Lou; his sons, Craig (Susan) and Jeffrey (Christina); and his grandchildren David (Sydney), Philip (Rebekah), Rebecca White (Jeremy), Mikayla Krull (Kristopher), and Nathan; and five great-grandchildren who carry forward the imprint of his life and faith.

Joseph pursued his education at Queens College and Moody Bible Institute and went on to serve as a missionary with CAM International for 43 years. He dedicated his life to the work of the Gospel in Central America where he planted churches and taught in Bible institutes in both Nicaragua and Costa Rica.

Joseph's legacy lives on in the men and women who continue to serve the Lord throughout Central America and beyond. His life was a testimony to faithful obedience and the multiplying impact of investing in others.

Scripture reminds us in 2 Timothy 4:7, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." Joseph's life embodied these words. And in the hope of the resurrection promised in John 11:25, we rest in the assurance that those who believe in Christ will live, even though they die. Today, we celebrate not only a life well lived, but a servant welcomed into the presence of his Lord, hearing the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant" (Matthew 25:23).
