Joseph J. McCallin, Jr., age 69 of Blue Anchor, NJ, passed away on September 28, 2025. He was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Joseph J. McCallin, Sr. and Rose McCallin (nee Roby). A man with a helping heart and an adventurous spirit, he lived life to the fullest with no regrets and without fear, often in the company of his beloved sidekick, Blue. He was always there for his friends and family, a steady presence, always quick to offer help to anyone in need. An avid pool player, he loved spending time with his APA of South Jersey family, cherishing both the competition and the camaraderie they shared. He also proudly owned PJ's Comics, Cards & Collectibles with his wife for over a decade - building not just a business, but a community. He had a passion for learning the latest technology on his iPhone and found joy in teaching those around him all the things he discovered. Of all his titles in life, his favorite was simply "PopPop"-a name spoken with love by those who meant the most to him.
Joseph is predeceased by his wife, Patricia L. McCallin; grandson, Tyler J. Canale; parents, Joseph and Rose McCallin; and siblings, Jean Perna, Elizabeth McCallin, Alexander McCallin, and Howard McCallin.
He is survived by his children, Joseph Canale (Carol) and Marjorie Ortiz (Misael); his sisters, Barbara Berghof and Rosemary Restuccio; his grandchildren, Abigail Ortiz, Amanda Caruso, Jessica Caruso, Anthony Caruso, Jr. (Kaila), and Brandon Caruso; and many great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM at LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory, located at 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ 08004. A eulogy will be given by the family at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
