John G. Miksit, Jr., 75, passed away peacefully in the hospital following a prolonged illness. He will be remembered as a devoted father, loving grandfather, loyal companion, and a man who enjoyed staying active, taking on projects, and making the most of life.
A graduate of Villanova University, John dedicated much of his professional life to the United States Postal Service, where he served as a Postmaster. He took pride in his work and in the many responsibilities he carried throughout his career.
John had a passion for life and was rarely one to sit still. He enjoyed hiking the Appalachian Trail, biking, working out at the gym, gardening, and cooking. He especially loved home remodeling and fixing just about anything, earning himself the fitting nickname "Fixit Miksit." Whether he was tackling a home improvement project, tending to his garden, or making his own wine, John enjoyed doing things his own way. And if you asked him how things were going, chances are the answer was "Alwaysfine."
Sea Isle City held a special place in John's heart, as did the many memories and good times shared with family and friends. Above all, family was the most important part of his life. He cherished his two children, Matthew Miksit and Kristen Miksit, and took particular joy in spending time with his grandchildren, Charlie, Kaitlyn, Connor, and Cason, who brought him tremendous happiness and pride.
John is survived by his children, Matthew Miksit and Kristen Miksit; his companion, Denise Straus; his brothers, Robert Miksit and Francis Miksit; and his beloved grandchildren, Charlie, Kaitlyn, Connor, and Cason.
John leaves behind a lifetime of memories, countless projects completed (and probably a few still waiting to be finished), homemade wine shared with family and friends, and a legacy of hard work, independence, humor, and love for those closest to him.
He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved. Alwaysfine.
Funeral Services will be private.
