She taught for many years at Van Zant Elementary School in Marlton, NJ before proudly earning her Master's degree from Fairleigh Dickenson University.
In 1966, Joan and Bob bought a farm in Evesham Township, NJ. She made enduring friendships with neighbors and members of the nearby Lion Tamers Club where she hosted family reunions each summer. She loved her family and cruising around the world with her beloved Bob. Together they visited all seven continents. Throughout her life she was fascinated by space. She fulfilled her dream of graduating from NASA's Space Camp in Huntsville, AL, which inspired her to send many of her grandchildren and Van Zant students to Space Camp as well.
