James Gerald Wolfer, lovingly known as Jerry, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 23, 2025, surrounded by his devoted family. He was 87 years old.
Born on October 10 in Lindenwold, NJ, Jerry was the beloved son of the late Walter and Catherine Wolfer (née Reilly). He was one of nine siblings and is predeceased by his eight brothers and sisters.
After graduating high school, Jerry proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served honorably for four years. Following his service, he built a successful career as a Territory Manager for Parts Plus in Pennsauken, NJ.
Jerry is survived by his first wife, Yolanda Santiago of Monroeville, AL, with whom he lovingly raised four daughters: Debra Dottoli, Sam (Nick) Gagliardi, Holly McConnell, and the late Kelly Wilson. He is also survived by his cherished stepdaughter, Debbie (Jim) Craig.
Jerry found great joy in family, friends, and the simple pleasures of life. He shared 35 wonderful years of marriage with the late Ann "Nancy" Wolfer (née Rafferty), and together they created a warm, joyful home in Coconut Creek, FL, and later in Little River, SC. He eventually returned to New Jersey to spend his final years close to loved ones.
Known for his enjoyment of life, Jerry loved card games, bowling, good music-especially Elvis and Sinatra-and never missed a lunch date with his grandchildren. He often reminded others, "What's the rush? Stop and smell the roses." He truly lived by that motto.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter in the hearts of his grandchildren: Nicole, Kate, Allison, Gabrielle, Nicky, Demi, Kevin, Gina, Jayne, Julia, and Gorgia, who will miss him deeply. He was also a proud great-grandfather to many, including his "little guy," Sonny. Jerry is lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews, whom he held close to his heart.
Jerry remained active and independent until the end. After a brief hospitalization, he waited until each of his grandchildren had the chance to say goodbye-Sinatra playing softly in the background. We know Jerry left this world as he lived in it: on his own terms. "I did it my way."
A private celebration of Jerry's life will be held, and his wishes for cremation will be honored.
