Hilda Mae Martin, age 67, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026. She was born and raised in Cascade, VA to Jasper Pritchett and Dorietta Martin.
Hilda was a true country girl who cherished her childhood in Cascade. Remembered as a fearless tomboy, she loved spending time outdoors. Hilda and her siblings could often be found playing in the woods, swinging on their Tarzan swing, searching for crawfish in the pond, and playing dodgeball. The Martin family was the first in their neighborhood to have a color television, and neighbors would often come by to see it. Hilda and her siblings shared many cherished memories of living a simple country life together in their early years—memories that will last a lifetime.
Hilda graduated from Camden High School and later continued her education at Brandywine College in Delaware. She proudly served in the United States Navy and thoroughly enjoyed traveling and seeing the world during her time in the service.
Hilda loved enjoying a good drink and meal and especially liked trying new foods. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Hilda was predeceased by her companion, Lou Kusek; her father, Jasper Pritchett; her nephew, James Jackmon (the late Rysheema); and her great niece, Daniela Ivey.
She is survived by her loving mother, Dorietta Martin; her siblings, Elizabeth Mattison (the late Fairest), Janice Jackmon (Morris, Sr.), Doris Martin, and Jesse Martin (Julie); her nieces and nephews, Christopher Mattison, Brooke Mattison (Daniel Duffy), Morris Jackmon, Jr. (Laurie), Lakeaba Ivey and her daughter, Tianni Ivey (Ashley Vines-Ivey), Destinie Long and Mya Long; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
