Gavin L. Olcsvary

April 8, 2003 — April 22, 2020

Gavin Olcsvary was brought into this world in April 2003 by his parents, Kristi, (nee Harris), and Randy Olcsvary. He loved the outdoors, fishing, bike riding, and most of all, paintball. While most of us knew he was coming, the birth was quite a surprise to him and since he was unprepared, he fought it as hard as he could using his enormous head as a wedge. He quickly forgave his parents for the abrupt entrance into this world and became one of the sweetest and most thoughtful young boys you could ever meet. Even at a very young age he showed a caring sensitivity not often seen in boys, he always saw the good in everyone except his uncle Chad who he was always a little skeptical of, for a good reason. As Gavin grew, he admired and loved deeply, his parents and being the sweet boy he was, he spent endless hours with his dad and brother Kyan scrapping metal or being his dad’s shovel buddy. You could also find Gavin helping his mom in her garden or baking with her in the kitchen, anything just to be helpful and spend time with his loved ones. Gavin had a great passion for food and was happiest when visiting his uncle Darren, aunt Andrea and cousins Mason and Ethan who indulged his foodie habit in the Big Apple. The holidays were always some of his favorites, having his grandmother Sue and grandfather Steven, for the day would surely make for happy times. When someone has the warmest of hearts family time is the most important. Family vacations with his aunt Nicole and cousins Chad and Olivia also served as the fondest of memories for us all. Continuing in his fathers’ footsteps and with the support of his uncle Coop, Gavin pursued a role on the NJ Bombsquad tournament paintball team where he established another family. His paintball family loved him as he were their own blood. Not just because he was a beast on the field (which he was) truly, but because like everyone who ever knew Gavin, they could feel the way he loved them and they felt his passion for the sport ran deep. As a teenager I would say he was not like most of the cocky “leave me alone” teenagers. He was the rare teenager who without provocation would notice a change to his mothers’ hair and take the time to pay her a compliment or kiss his father on the lips in public, because that is Gavin- True Blue. Gavin was a Junior at Camden County Vocational Technical High School where he was beloved by teachers and students alike. He was pursuing a career as a certified electrician and surely would have saved me from electrocution at some point but sadly he has left us prematurely. A loss of this magnitude will send tremors through the lives of countless people but those of us who survived him will always be better for having known him. Gavin was tragically taken from this world on April 22, 2020. Because we are in the middle of a pandemic, services will be determined at a later date. The plan is to have something awesome at a paintball field, this is the only way Gavin would have had it.
