With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Frederick G. Shourds, known by his friends as Fred, or by his brothers and sisters by Freddy. Fred departed this life naturally on August 15, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on February 12, 1941, in Camden, NJ, Fred grew up in Mount Laurel, NJ when it wasn't more than a country town. He graduated from Moorestown High School in 1959 and continued his education at Pierce Business School. Fred and Sandy raised their family in Collingswood and later in Atco, NJ. He and his wife Sandra, (Sandy), later made their home in Atco, NJ where they were always surrounded by family. Most birthday and holiday parties were celebrated at Fred and Sandy's.
Fred dedicated many years to PSE&G starting as a meter reader and worked his way up to Supervisor of Meter Reading & Collection, where he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
Fred leaves behind his loving wife, Sandy; his children, Daniel Shourds, Michelle Harvey, and Robert Shourds; as well as his cherished sisters, Nancy Myers, Karen Connors, and Denise Vosko, and brother, Richard Shourds. He was a proud grandfather to Cynthia Densten, David Harvey, Ashlee Blasiak, Brandon Shourds, Emily Yobb, Alex Shourds, and Jacob Shourds, as well as to his youngest grandson, Carter Shourds and 11 great-grandchildren. Each of them will carry a piece of his spirit in their hearts. Fred was predeceased by his brother Ron, and parents, Fred Sr. and Ruth Shourds.
Friends and family are invited to join us in celebrating Frederick's life. The viewing will be on Monday, August 24, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM at Holy Communion Lutheran Church, 442 NJ-73, Berlin, NJ 08009, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
