Dunthur M. Puttaswamy, beloved husband, father, uncle and friend to many, died peacefully at the age of 96 on January 29, 2026, with his family by his side.
"Swamy" was born the fifth of seven children to Chennamma and Maregowda in the little village of Dunthuru that he was so proud of, in Karnataka, India. He is survived by his loving wife Vanitha, daughters Aneira and Ash, and son-in-law, Dan.
After graduating from Mysore Medical College, Swamy crossed the globe, caring for patients in India, Wales, and multiple states in the U.S. He was proud to serve the United States Department of Defense in his last 27 years before retirement.
Swamy's warm nature fostered connections with everyone whose path he crossed; he treated every person with equal respect. He was simple, thoughtful and generous. He also had a fun-loving side; he enjoyed music and never turned down an opportunity to dance. He loved spending time with family, friends, neighbors, colleagues, and community. He was a people person through and through.
