Dennis J. Piermattei of Brigantine, New Jersey, was called away from us unexpectedly on October 21, 2025, leaving a void in the hearts of all who cherished his vibrant spirit. His boundless love, rooted in his proud Italian heritage, will forever inspire those he touched.
Born on September 11, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Algeo and Vicki Piermattei. Dennis grew up in a warm Italian family, where tradition and connection shaped his generous soul. With an MSW, MSHA, LCSW, and BCD, he dedicated his life to service, serving as the former Director of the Child Guidance Center and then as a compassionate social worker. As a sociology professor at Atlantic Cape Community College, Dennis ignited curiosity in his students, sharing his passion for understanding humanity.
An avid tech enthusiast, Dennis led the Atlantic County Macintosh Users Group (ACMUG) as President, fostering a community of innovation. His photographer's eye captured the beauty of Brigantine bayside sunsets, a passion that mirrored his love for life's fleeting moments. As a former boater, he once commanded the Pierbuster with pride, embracing the sea's freedom. More recently, he enjoyed his autonomous drives with Optimus Gray. Dennis' heart belonged to his Italian roots, and he made frequent, joyful trips to his father's hometown in Italy, nurturing deep bonds with relatives and friends.
Dennis is survived by his beloved siblings, Janet (Bob) Factor and Debbie Piermattei; his cherished nieces, Stephany Piermattei and Brandy (Bob) Foster; and nephews, David (Jeanine) Metague and Bobby (Jess) Factor. Also, his great nephews and nieces , Joey, Jake (Paige), Kyra (Jeff), Kevin, Jack, Giana, Jon, Kaci Foster and Madison, Devin, Reagan Metague. He was predeceased by his parents, Algeo and Vicki Piermattei, whose love now welcomes him home.
A graveside service to honor Dennis' extraordinary life will be held at 12:00 pm, noon on November 1, 2025, at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cedar Brook,119 N Route 73, Berlin, New Jersey. Though his departure was sudden, Dennis' warmth, laughter, and love for hot peppers, Star Trek, sunsets, and Italy will shine eternally in our memories, guiding us like stars over the ocean he so loved.
