Deborah May Fanning

Deborah May Fanning, of Deptford, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from lung cancer. Debbie was born in Philadelphia on September 8, 1951 to the late Elizabeth "Betty" Holzenthaler and the late Francis Hogan. Debbie was married to Paul D. Fanning (1975) until his passing in 2001.

She is survived by her brother, Frank Hogan; sister, Margaret Ranalli; brother, Joseph Hogan; sister, Elizabeth Hogan and sister, Maureen Consolo; and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Rose M. Cwik and brother, Vincent Hogan.

Debbie's children were her rescued dogs. She believed every dog deserved a home and a second chance. Kelsey, her last dog, was a rescued greyhound as big as Debbie! They were a huge part of her daily life.

Debbie was a true bookworm - a lover of stories in every form from classic literature to fiction to poetry. Debbie's happy place was in her library reading a good book from hundreds on the shelves. Reading was a constant comfort to her and no topic escaped her curiosity or was off limits. She spent many years volunteering at Deptford Public Library as well as Veteran's Haven.

Debbie will be remembered for her compassion and her joy in the company of her four-legged friends. Donations in memory of Debbie can be made to the Animal Welfare Association (AWA), 509 Centennial Blvd, Voorhees, NJ 08043.

Friends and relatives are invited to a graveside service this Friday, September 4, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery located at 240 North Tuckahoe Road, Williamstown, NJ.
