It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of David J. Smith on May 17, 2025, at the age of 80. David's life was defined by his dedication to his wife of 50 years.
Born in 1944, David served his country for three years in the United States Army. After his military service, he spent 34 years with the United States Postal Service. He was committed to helping his community and was named (with Bobbi) as Volunteer of the Year in 2017 by the Jewish Family and Children's Services.
David was a devoted husband to Bobbi and a father to Ben (married to Lottie), Lauren (married to Chris), Jeremy (married to Mary), Jodi (married to Rudy), and Fredda. He was also a proud grandfather to Caitlin, Ian, Dakota, Emilee, Victor, Angelina, Zachary and great grandchildren.
David had a sharp, often dry sense of humor, especially when it came to his beloved Philadelphia sports teams. His pessimistic view of the Eagles or Phillies, particularly during their tough seasons, was a running joke among his family and friends. Despite his grumbling, his passion for Philly sports never wavered, and his wry commentary became a trademark of his personality. David's unique brand of humor-part love, part frustration-will be fondly remembered by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 7th at Lester P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ 08004.
