David W. Downs Jr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David "Dave" W. Downs Jr., who passed away unexpectedly on September 3, 2026, at the age of 55. Born in Stratford, NJ, Dave spent most of his life in West Berlin, NJ, where he cultivated many cherished friendships and became a well-respected member of the local community.

Dave was the proud owner of Downs Lawn Service, a landscaping company that reflected his passion for the outdoors and his exceptional work ethic. He was known not only for his dedication to his business but also for his kind and generous spirit. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to give to those in need.

Most of all, Dave treasured spending time with his two devoted and loving sons, who were his best friends. They enjoyed doing everything together and were rarely apart. The time he shared with his sons and loving wife meant more to him than anything; including weekends down the shore, crabbing and fishing, Atlantic City casinos, going to Disney world and sharing countless family dinners together.

Dave had an inseparable bond with his mother, whose unconditional love, guided and supported him throughout his life.

Dave was also a member of St. Simon Stock Parish, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.

Dave is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 36 years, Michele (nee Mancano) Downs; two dedicated sons, David M. Downs and Nicholas L. Downs; cherished mother, Sharon (nee Pauler) Ettore; caring brother, Stephen Ettore; stepbrothers, John, Martin, and Barry Ettore; nieces and nephews, Mila, Max, Matthew, Louis, Anna, Frances, and Martina; in-laws, Arlene and Richard Foley and Michael and Diane Mancano; cousins, Danielle, Leslie, Amy Lynn, and Anthony; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, extended family members, and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

Dave was predeceased by his father, David "Pappy" W. Downs Sr., and his stepfather, Martin Ettore.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. at St. Simon Stock Parish/Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 178 W. White Horse Pike, Berlin, NJ 08009.

In lieu of flowers, donations in David's memory may be made to St. Simon Stock Parish.
