It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bernard Edward Hollis, who left us on May 11, 2026, at the age of 85. Bernard was born on November 3, 1940, in Philadelphia, PA, to Benjamin J. and Grace (nee Roberts) Hollis and was raised by Rebecca S. Hollis after his mother passed away on May 1, 1943. He spent his later years in Atco, NJ, where he was known for his warm personality and love for his community.
He graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in Philadelphia, PA, Class of 1959. Right after graduating, he enlisted into the United States Marines Corps showing his dedication to his country. Following his time in service, he built a fulfilling career as a chemical mixer at Rohm and Haas Chemical Company, in Philadelphia, where he was regarded as a dependable and hardworking employee.
Bernard is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Barbara (nee Hamilton) Hollis: his sister, Rebecca Hollis; his brother, Benjamin Hollis and a host of nieces and nephews.
He had a zest for life and was a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan, he loved gathering with friends and family to watch games. When he wasn't cheering on his team, you could find him tending to his garden, where he found peace and joy, nurturing the plants as he did his relationships with those around him. He was a true people person, always ready with a smile and a story to share.
He was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Lottie Mae Bridges, Esther Aiken, Joseph Hollis, Rosalie Hollis, Corrine Tucker and James Hollis.
