Barbara Maxine Kachnic

Barbara M. Kachnic, 83, of West Berlin, New Jersey, passed away on June 28, 2026. She was born on September 27, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Harry and Thelma Wyatt.

Barbara was one of five children and is predeceased by her siblings, Thelma, Gwenn, Curtis, and Preston.

In 1964, Barbara married Edward Kachnic, and the couple made their home in Tucson, Arizona, where Barbara helped run her husband's small business. In addition to raising four children of her own, Michael, Ken, Barbara Ann, and Linda, Barbara also helped raise Edward's five children from his first marriage. Barbara and Edward later divorced in 1974. The family returned to the East Coast, settling first in Galloway, New Jersey, before Barbara went on to spend most of her recent life in West Berlin, New Jersey.

Barbara was predeceased by her daughter, Barbara Ann. She is survived by her children, Michael, Ken, and Linda; and her six grandchildren, Jessika, Kourtney, Kelsey, Kelly, April, and Andrew; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who will remember her fondly.

Barbara loved music and had no patience for hoopla. She found great joy in yard-saleing, ceramics and doll-making. Her spirit, tenacity, and boundless love will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
