Adele Lee Achey

Adele L. Achey (nee Tomko), age 76, of Atco, NJ, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Atlanta, GA, to the late William and Helen Tomko (nee Bryan).

Adele worked in the cafeteria for the Winslow Township School District for 25 years, where she cherished the time she spent with the students. She especially got a kick out of running into them outside of school and hearing them excitedly shout, "Miss Adele!" to greet her.

Adele was an avid reader and enjoyed watching General Hospital and Oprah. She was also known for her warmth, sense of humor, and the joy she found in being surrounded by those she loved. Most of all, Adele adored spending time with her family-whether she was cooking large family dinners or lovingly pranking and teasing her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Adele was predeceased by her daughter, Denise M. Achey; her sister, Dolores Duffy; and her parents, William and Helen Tomko.

She is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 58 years, Joseph L. Achey, Sr.; her children, Joseph L. Achey, Jr. (Cheryl), Christine M. Walls (William), and Michele Smial (Chad); her cherished grandchildren, Kayla Achey, Jordyn Achey, Ryan Achey, Samuel Smial, Benjamin Smial, Mason Walls, and Gracie Walls; her sisters, Theresa Stow (the late Ronald) and Pamela DiGioia (Alfred); as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members, including many members of the Achey family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 9:15 AM to 10:45 AM at Christ the Redeemer Parish / Assumption Church, 318 Carl Hasselhan Dr., Atco, NJ 08004. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM at the church. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Berlin, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
