Alan Michael Basquez, age 68, of West Berlin, New Jersey, passed away suddenly on Monday, December 13th, 2021. Beloved husband of Debra Basquez. Devoted father of Kimberly (Rich) Wegrzyniak, Nicholas (Amanda) Basquez, David (Amanda) Basquez, Andrew Basquez and Brittney (Dalton Sr.) Basquez-Clark. Adored grandfather of Aidan, Aubree, Brooklyn (and her mother Alexis), Lana, Rowan, David Jr, Jaxson, and Dalton Jr. Cherished Brother of late Rose Marie Gerlach (nee Basquez) and late David P. Basquez. Dear Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Alan was born in Oak Park, Illinois on January 9th, 1953, to parents,(late) David Joseph Basquez and Florence Mary Basquez (nee Gattuso) and was the youngest of 3 children. He graduated from Prospect High School of Mt. Prospect, Illinois in 1971. Alan had many achievements in high school, ranking one of the top athletes throughout his junior and senior high school years playing football, basketball, wrestling, and track. Alan loved music, in his younger years he was part of a local cover band, playing the drums, performing at local fairs and events around Mt. Prospect. He later married his wife Debra, in October of 1980 and started a family of his own. He worked for many jobs and always stayed busy to provide for his family. Alan and Debra later moved to New Jersey, due to a job opportunity, where him and Debbie made a life for themselves, and their 5 children. He worked for Equity One/ Popular Financial Mortgage for 15 years as a file manager.
Alan was very hardworking, and always provided for his family. Many would say his greatest life accomplishment would be the family he had created and raised with his wife Debbie. Alan loved his family more than anything, being a father and grandfather (“Pop”) brought him more joy in life than life itself. He loved sports, cars (he loved his 1979 Pontiac Trans AM), being outside, and spending quality time at home with his Loved ones. Al also loved the holidays, he looked forward to decorating for them every year with his children! Al was someone you could count on to help you with anything you needed. He was quite the handyman, and was willing to fix anything, for anyone. He loved showing up for his kids whether it was for school events (plays, art shows, award ceremonies, graduations etc.) or athletic games they participated in. He took pride in his family and always made sure they knew that. He loved telling jokes and making people laugh. His sense of humor was one of a kind, and his smile was contagious. Alan had a heart of gold and he loved & cared deeply. He will be missed dearly from all of his family and friends. To leave a heartfelt condolence, please visit Alan’s Tribute Wall.
